IBM V5R4 is an operating system that was released by IBM in 2006. IBM created a 256 page document (SC41-5120-11) geared towards IBMi upgrades. It only covers some of the pitfalls that can be encountered during an upgrade that crosses over a release that requires object conversion.
If your organization is running V5R4 or lower, it is critical that you have a comprehensive upgrade test before actually attempting the upgrade. IBM has no documented or supported methods for downgrading. It is a full scratch system and restoration from tape fix.
